Some of the best spectator sports in the entire state can be found on our college campuses, as our universities field top-level competition regardless of their size. In addition to collegiate athletics, a number of other sporting events draw fans around the region.
In addition to live greyhound racing 52 weeks per year, Victoryland offers a full simulcast schedule of race and sporting events from around the nation. The track holds over 200 simulcast races on Saturday alone. The track is easy to find, located on I-85 between Montgomery and Tuskegee. You must be at least 19 years old to visit Victoryland.
Built in 1946, this historic stadium housed Ozark's professional baseball teams from 1946-1952. Today, high school, college, and Dixie Major games are held at the stadium. Eagle Stadium is also the site of the exhibition game between St. Louis Cardinals and Ozark's all-star team.
A rally-style racetrack, the East Alabama Motor Speedway supports six classes of championship stock car racing as well as demolition derbies. The East Alabama Motor Speedway also hosts the annual Alabama 500 State Championships.
The Montgomery Motorsports Park hosts a variety of races in numerous classes, including super-pro and drag racing. The site also frequently hosts car shows and classic car competitions.
World Championship Rodeo/Livestock Exposition
Some of the nation's top riders and wranglers make their appearance at this excellent rodeo every April. This annual event is held at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery. You can also view the Southeastern Livestock Exposition, a regional farm animal exhibition held in conjunction with the rodeo.
